Keeping journey history secure

How do you keep my data secure?

Wheely believes that privacy is a fundamental human right. Pickup, destination, and route information is encrypted by a unique key generated on your device and never shared with anyone. This means that you control access to your journey data.

Why can’t I see pickup and destination locations in my Journey History?

Journey data remains confidential with pickup, route, and destination data all encrypted by your device once you have completed your journey. That means you will only be able to view this information on the specific device used to request a journey. If you cannot see the pickup and destination location it was booked on another device.

Why should I give Wheely access to my journey in the Rating window?

Because your journey data is confidential, we will always ask your permission for access if there is an issue. This happens if you leave a negative review of 3 stars or less, or 4 stars with a comment, allowing us to check the details and take appropriate action. If you prefer not to share these details, you can easily opt-out.

Why should I give Wheely access to my journey in a chat?

Again, because your journey data is confidential, our Customer Service team will need to ask your permission for access to help us resolve any issues. You will always be given the option to grant or deny access to this information in the chat.

What if I use the same Wheely account on several devices?

Whenever you book a journey, the details are encrypted by a unique key generated on the device you use. That means you won’t be able to view the details from any other device, even if you access the same account.

What happens if I uninstall the app or lose my phone?

If you uninstall the app, the unique key used to decrypt journey data will be securely kept in the iOS Keychain. That means that if you reinstall the app, the key would be preserved. Key preservation is currently not available for Android, so once you reinstall the app, your journey history would become unavailable to you.

If you lose or change your mobile device, you will be able to restore your unique key if you have synchronised your passwords in iCloud. Key synchronisation is currently not available for Android.
